The place demonstrates a way of life associated with education.
When the Hyden School expanded and another teacher was
appointed, accomodation for the headmaster and his family was provided in the mid 1950s. However the
other teaching staff were still required to find board and lodging with towns people or farmers, until 1968
when the single teacher's quarters were constructed. It ended the era of teacher's boarding in Hyden.
