A place of considerable cultural heritage significance to Town of Narrogin that is worthy of recognition and protection through provisions of the Town of Narrogin Town Planning Scheme. Planning Application needs to be submitted to Town of Narrogin for any proposed development and referred to Regional Wheatbelt Heritage Adviser for comment. Recommend: Retain and conserve the place. Document the place per HCWA Archive recommendations if retention is not possible.

Statement of Significance

The building is significant on the following grounds:
1. Erected in 1924/25 as the soldiers' own memorial building on land granted by Crown grant.
2. Built as result of soldiers' initiative and determination to have their own centre.
3. Major social centre, 1920s - 1960s for R.S.L. and general public/billiards.
4. Now the base for the Rotary Club as well as R.S.L.
5. Venue for many major occasions, eg. dinner after opening Dwarda Railway.

Physical Description

Simple brick and iron hall with verandah at front.

Walls are red, fair faced brick laid in stretcher bond above a white painted rendered plinth up to sill height. Double hipped galvanised iron roof. Symmetrical front wall is tuck-pointed and is topped with a rendered parapet. The parapet is decorated with a central semi-circular feature flanked by lower walls with recessed panels suggesting stripped classical balustrading.
