House, 8 Martha Street is a single storey limestone and tile house constructed as a variation of the Victorian Georgian style of Architecture. The walls are rendered to the front, and limestone rubble to the sides. The roof is hipped and clad with tiles. There is a rendered corbelled chimney with two chimney pots evident. The verandah is under a tiled roof at a lower pitch supported by rendered columns and a half wall rendered brick balustrade with red brick capping. The symmetrical front façade has central double doors with a top fanlight flanked by timber framed double hung sash windows. The house is situated at street level. There is a painted brick wall to the front boundary line with a timber picket gate, and a flat roof carport to the side.
In 1897/98 this was vacant land owned by Edward Crake. In 1899 there was a cottage owned by Edward Crake, occupied by William Anderson, a printer. The house is on Lot 5 of 10, Cockburn Sound Location 7.
High degree of integrity (original intent clear, current use compatible, high long term sustainability).
