History

Greenmount Primary School was established on this site in 1913. The first school was a
rented premises and at the opening of the school attended by dignitaries it was stated
that if numbers were maintained the Education Department would build a dedicated
school building.
This must have occurred as tenders were called by the Public Works Department in 1914
and in December of that year contractor J. Wallace was announced as the successful and
lowest tenderer.
The school continued to operate at this site until the early 1960s when the new school
was opened on Innamincka Road.
The first school building was largely unused on the site until 1984 when it was added to
and adapted for the Darlington Theatre Players. The buildings have been the venue for
the Darlington Theatre Players since then.
