The site represents associations with post war immigration and rail transport. It also demostrates a way of life no longer practiced.
Many of the workers lived in tents, and later timber and corrugated iron dwellings.
The railway line from Wickepin to Corrigin went through Yealering and opened on 8 June 1914 in Yealering. After World War Two "European" immigrants came to work on the railways. On contract with the government they had to work for two years before being able to pursue their own profession in Australia. The "New Australians" worked very hard and lived in very harsh conditions.
