This place is a representative example of an early shop in the area and has historic value for its association with the development of the Bayswater townsite. The place makes a significant
contribution to the townscape.
One of a group of brick shops with a simple rendered parapet and a tied cantilever awning over the footpath. The glazed shopfronts have been modernised to the disadvantage of the building. The shop now occupied by Foodland has a glazed tile dado and Victorian style parapet with centre escutcheon and stone balls at the corner.
This store was erected around the same time as Campbell's grocery store, just after the Great War. It was originally a grocery store run by Reginald Smoker.
