The place is an example of a rendered masonry residence representing the expansion of Fremantle in the gold boom period of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
The place contributes to a substantially intact late nineteenth and early twentieth century streetscape close to the centre of Fremantle.
Single storey and single faced rendered house with a zincalumed hipped roof which has a brick chimney extant.
Malcolm Street was named for Sir Malcolm Fraser, the Commissioner of Lands and First Agent General for Western Australia in London (1892).
In 1896 part 11 of the lot was vacant. In 1897 there was one cottage on pt 11 owned by Mrs Slater. In 1899 there were 2 cottages on part 11 owned by CV and S and WB Birch.
