The place is significant as the oldest shop in the town of Corrigin. The associations with the earliest shopkeepers, post office and pioneers of the district, are significant. The place demonstrates an association with the developing technology of motor vehicles and the evolving town of Corrigin. The place is of considerable value to the streetscape and townscape of Corrigin .
Store and Post Office:
The unadorned corner structure is constructed of bricks with a hipped corrugated iron roof with a truncated corner. The verandahs have been removed from the two street fronts, as has the door on the corner truncation.
The brick building has a corrugated iron roof with a gable which is concealed by the gable parapet wall. The street frontage has a parapet similar to that of the Newsagency buildings in Walton Street. A "colourbond" roller door has been installed into one half of the street frontage, and the other side has fibro cement sheeting applied over what was a glass shopfront opening. Previously face brick pilasters, now painted, are situated either side of the rendered facade. A skillion verandah along the street front, supported by timber columns on the pavement edge, has been removed. Fuel bowsers were originally located on the street verge.

In 1912, the place operated as Coades Store with EJ (Jimmy) Dougan managing it. The Post Office operated at specific times when a shutter on the Campbell Street side was opened. In 1921, Dougan bought the store from Coade and continued to operate it until 1928, when Pitts-Hill purchased it. It is claimed that the first dance in Corrigin town was held in Dougan's store in 1921, before he moved the goods in? In 1928, Dougan became a Sunshine Harvester representative, and took up land in 1930. Mr DG Pugh
arrived in Corrigin in 1923, and took over Mr JB Ding's existing business, extended and renovated, and constructed the garage and service station which had entrances on Walton and Campbell Streets, each side of the central corner store (office). In the 1950s a fire destroyed the garage section, and it was re-built. It has functioned as a trophy shop, Beaurepaires Tyres, the office of Rose and Jones Builders, and E & P Taylor ran a Ford agency.
